Our Theme:
First Baptist Church - The Place For Growing Disciples!
Our focus is two-fold:1) We want to be a church where believers can come and grow in their faith and in their service to the Lord.
2) We want to be a church which is also growing (that is, producing) disciples.
But we don't just want to be any old place for growing disciples, we want to be THE place. By that we mean, we want to have the very best programs, training and opportunities the Lord allows to help folks become the best disciples they can be.
How can we accomplish this? By putting into practice Acts 2:42...
- by devoting ourselves to the teaching of Scripture ("the apostles teaching")
- we want to train up Bible study leaders and promote exisiting Bible study opportunities and create new ones
- by devoting ourselves to each other and our shared ministry ("to the fellowship")
- we want to promote opportunties to use our gifts in the church's various ministries and participate in mission outreaches
- by devoting ourselves to worship ("to the breaking of bread")
- we want to enhance our worship and focus on the goal rather than on style
- by devoting ourselves to prayer ("to prayer")
- we want to emphasize the importance of prayer and develop prayer groups and other corporate prayer opportunities
